German Gymnast Granny’s Got Game
Johanna Quass is an 86-year old grandmother gymnast from Germany. And let me tell you, granny can move.
Frau Quass started studying gymnastics when she was 30 and has kept it up for all this time. The results have really paid off for her.
Her body is athletic and muscular. She’s the definition of lean and mean. She’s not squishy or skinny-fat which most seniors are.
She’s got young muscle on her frame. She has a body of a 30-year old. His name is Rolf and lives with her. (Sorry, old joke. But she does have a very youthful body that defies her age.)
And how is her gymnastic game? Quite impressive. Her floor routine showed agility, grace, flexibility and strength. And her parallel bars routine is stellar, especially considering it’s a male event that females don’t do. She demonstrates some impressive feats of strength for a person of any age.
Yep, granny’s got some serious skills. After her P-Bar routine she got in a competitor’s face and proclaimed “You got served!”
Well, no, not really. But that would’ve been cool. She’s got the game to back it up. Granny is gold, Jerry, gold. Not old.
Gymnastics is a young person’s sport. People think that means it’s only for young people. Wrong. It’s a young person’s sport because it makes you young. You do it, stick with it, you get young.
Anything is possible at any age. I once met another granny gymnast who started in her sixties. I started at 35, others start at 5 or 55. Truth is it doesn’t matter when you start – but just start. And stick with it! You’ll reap the rewards now and forever.
